Fitting a camshaft allows more air / fuel and keeps that valves open for longer than the stock cam to enter the cylinder, resulting in an overall increase in power in a cost effective way. The large increase in both BHP and torque throughout the Rev Range are essential when increasing the power and capabilities of your mini.
Although not absolutely necessary on all models, it is recommended to re map the ECU when fitting the Newman camshaft to achieve the full potential power gains.
